The Boy Who Digs is a dark comedy about a man named Doug with an addiction to digging holes. This is where the story begins, 5 feet deep in a hole of his own making in the midst of indulgence - another manic episode of digging. 

The elation he feels won’t last for long however, as his long term partner, Rose, has had enough of his peculiar vice and has decided to leave him for good. 

Upon hearing the news, he returns to his pit, to the only coping mechanism he has ever had. Now very much single and alone, the shovelfuls of dirt no longer give him the same rush that they used to. He decides he has to give up digging. 

We follow Doug on his quest to quit digging, which turns out to be harder than expected. Whilst doing so, he tries to navigate his return to the minefield of dating when in fact he should be learning to accept his peculiar addiction.
